The UK's Princess Anne on Wednesday visited survivors of Typhoon Yolanda in Leyte in her role as president of the UK chapter of the international NGO Save the Children.

The organization's Philippine branch has been in the typhoon-hit region to aid its beneficiaries since November 2013, working "alongside communities to restore shelter and help families recover a means of income," the group said in a statement.

Princess Anne walks with Save the Children Philippines country director Ned Olney to the house of one of the organization's beneficiaries in Brgy. Tagaytay.

Princess Anne and her group visited Barangay Tagaytay in Kananga, where the Mariana Pono school prepared a song for their royal visitor.

“Having Her Royal Highness visiting Save the Children projects is a huge boost to the staff and communities who need to be reminded that they’re not forgotten after such an incredible process of recovery across the country,” said Save the Children Philippines country director Ned Olney.

On Tuesday, the princess paid a courtesy call to Malacañang not long after her arrival in the country. The only daughter of the Queen of England, Princess Anne first visited the Philippines in 1999. She has been president of Save the Children UK since 1970. — BM, GMA News
