Lawyer the lawyer: Eye-catching names from this year’s list of bar exams passers
(Updated 6:15 p.m.) It's that time of the year when law students and their parents hopefully scan the list of those who passed this year's bar exams, and it's also when everyone else checks out the same list for interesting and funny names from among the examinees.
Unfortunately, there are no names that rise to the funny appropriateness of Habeas M. Corpuz, who passed last year's bar, and no family's naming style rises to the sublime weirdness of that of the Pascuals, whose children include UP student Sincerely Yours '98 and her siblings Macaroni '85 and Spaghetti '88.
Among this year's passers, just a few peculiar names stand out, especially when paired with titles like Attorney, Judge, or Justice as they may very well be in the future: there's Emmanuel P. Galit and Neil Brian P. Galit, who are probably very happy right now; Mojahid S. Guro, who might have a future teaching law; Irene Estela T. Harder, who will not be soft on crime; Michelle Marie U. Hatol, who should think of becoming a judge; Christian Apollo U. Lawyer, who might be a textbook case of nominative determinism; Dixie Jane N. Patay, who we hope will live long and prosper; and Ferminlino C. Ultra, who might just be the most.
Other names that struck us are Kristine Grace O. Apellido, Bernadette M. Bayad and Fernando T. Bayad, Joseph C. Ladlad, Ryan P. Cafe, Karen Christine Red-Lock, Darling Chyrmyth Wagas, Ed Michael E. Supremo and Juman B. Paa.
But whether their names are funny and interesting or ordinary and boring, they should be proud of their achievement. The full list of passers can be viewed here.
The bar topnotcher is Irene Mae Alcobilla from San Beda College Manila with a grade of 85.5, followed by Christian Drilon from Ateneo de Manila University with a grade of 85.45 and Sandra Mae Magalang from UP with a grade of 84.6. — Andrei Medina and Mark Merueñas/BM, GMA News
