Australian Catholic choir to tour PHL
An Australian Catholic choir will be touring and performing in the Philippines starting Easter Monday, the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines said.
The music group “Excelsis” will tour the Philippines from April 5 to 12 and is to sing at Masses at some key Manila churches.
It will also hold performances for the poor, and give three concerts in Manila and Cavite, though one will be private, the CBCP said.
"While Excelsis sings primarily for liturgical events, it also stages occasional concert acts, and boasts a repertoire of sacred music from numerous Christian traditions, incorporating classical European works, traditional African pieces, Gospel songs, Welsh hymnody, and contemporary Asian church music," it added.
One of the choir's three concerts will seek to raise funds for the Manila Archdiocese's Commission on Social Services and Development's “One Voice for the Poor" campaign.
The group's repertoire is expected to give the singers and their audiences a chance to explore and discover the vast range of Christian choral music.
