Stars of Spanish docu about blind man with autism attend WPFF screening

Two brothers whose bicycle trek across Spain is the subject of the documentary "La Sonrisa Verdadera" last week attended the film's screening at the World Premieres Film Festival in Metro Manila.

The film, whose English title is "True Smile," follows brothers Sergio and Juan Manuel Aznárez Rosado as they ride a tandem bicycle from Cuenca in Spain to Morocco to meet up with their friend Mati.

Sergio, who is blind and has autism, rode behind Juan Manuel on the bike.

Last week, the brothers flew to the Philippines for the first time to attend the documentary's premiere at the WPFF. The screening was also attended by members of the Instituto Cervantes Manila and the Autism Society Philippines (ASP).

Last Friday, they attended another screening of the film at SM Megamall, where WPFF officers presented each brother with a Certificate of Appreciation for Distinguished Participation in the festival.

“We’re very happy to be here in the Philippines,” said Juan Manuel, accordnig to a release by the Film Development Council of the Philippines. “I’d like to thank everybody for giving us this welcome to the festival. I’m really impressed with how well you’ve welcomed us. It’s very important that ["True Smile"] is not only a movie to be enjoyed in the cinema – we can help other people with this example. For us, this trip to the Philippines has become something really touching and really special. We hope you enjoy the film.”
