Hero dog Kabang, survivor dog Pacquiao lead seminar on animal cruelty
Asong Pinoy (Aspin) Kabang continues to be a hero, this time for her fellow dogs through a seminar in Davao City organized by the Animal Welfare Coalition (AWC).
Through Kabang's story, the AWC illustrated the wonderful traits of man's best friend.
Kabang became famous throughout the world in 2011 when she leaped in front of a speeding motorcycle in a busy road to save two young girls — the daughter of her owner and her cousin.
Her face was mangled but she survived. When her story became viral, an online fundraising drive spearheaded by New York nurse Karen Kenngott raised more over $20,000 for Kabang's treatment in the United States.
Doctors were unable to completely rebuild her face but managed to protect her from infections that could have endangered her life. Kabang now lives without an upper snout.

Meanwhile, along with Kabang, other special dogs were present at the seminar, including survivor dog Pacquiao.
Pacquiao, an Aspin from Davao, was shot in the head, which damaged his jaw and tongue, but survived the act of cruelty.
AWC hopes that exposing people to Kabang and Pacquiao's plight would open their eyes to animal cruelty.
