4 heroin addict buddies return in ‘Trainspotting’ sequel


Renton, Spud, Sick Boy and Begbie will return this year in cinemas for a "Trainspotting" sequel.

The characters played by Ewan McGregor, Ewan Bremner, Johnny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle, respectively, returns more than two decades after the 1996 masterpiece of director Danny Boyle.

The "Trainspotting" sequel is based on author Irvine Welsh’s follow-up novel “Porno.”

The sequel picks up 20 years after the events of the first film with the main characters crossing paths yet again.

The first film is set in the late ’80s, which follows a group of heroin addicts in an economically depressed area of Edinburgh.

The sequel will open in the Philippines in February 2017. —ALG, GMA News
