What Pia Wurtzbach thinks of Jessy Mendiola's 'Talo ko pa si Pia' remarks

The phrase "it's lonely at the top" sometimes rings true, especially when recognition comes with a bit of bashing.

Fortunately, the women sharing the space up there are not about to engage in a catfight. Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach on Friday addressed the attacks on Jessy Mendiola, who compared herself to the beauty queen during FHM Philippine's victory party on Tuesday.

"What I saw was a girl who was just really ecstatic to be given that recognition," Wurtzbach wrote. "Nothing wrong with that. Congratulations, Jessy!"

Wurtzbach even added an emoji of a woman in red, the same color Mendiola was wearing at the party.

The current "Nation's Sexiest" woman came under fire shortly after her victory walk for FHM Philippines when a video of her acceptance speech went viral.

Mendiola was caught on video saying "Talo ko pa si Pia Wurtzbach!", referring to their ranking on the magazine's list. Wurtzbach came in at 16th place, 15 ranks lower than Mendiola.

"Kung siya confidently beautiful with a heart, ako confidently sexy with a heart," Mendiola said. She added that the way she sees it, everyone is sexy.

Her words were not received well by some people, who took to Twitter to vent. —JST, GMA News
