7 quotes of hope from Hillary Clinton’s concession speech
She may have not shattered that "highest, hardest of glass ceilings", but in her concession speech, Hillary Clinton continued to carry with her a message of hope.
Without tears, she admitted that the outcome was not what she and her supporters hoped for. She also confessed that she shares their disappointment, but encouraged everyone to instead focus on building a better, more inclusive nation.
Clinton addressed in particular the youth, whose careers are just starting and who, like her, are likely to experience painful losses and setbacks.
"And to the young people in particular, I hope you will hear this. I have, as Tim said, spent my entire adult life fighting for what I believe in. I've had successes and I've had setbacks, sometimes really painful ones. Many of you are at the beginning of your professional, public, and political careers," she told the crowd who joined her in New York.
She continued, "You will have successes and setbacks, too. This loss hurts, but please, never stop believing that fighting for what's right is worth it. Nothing has made me prouder than to be your champion."
Passing on the honor, she shared an empowering message to little girls: "Never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams."
Clinton ran a campaign against Republican nominee Donald Trump, who went on to win the US presidency Tuesday night.
