Woman files lawsuit after finding a dead rat sewn into her Zara dress
Cailey Fiesel, 24 and a resident of New York County, filed a lawsuit against Spanish retailer Zara after she saw a dead rat sewed in the hem of her dress.
Fiesel claims in her official statement that she bought the dress in July at Zara's branch in Greenwich Avenue and stored it inside her closet.
She wore her new dress to work for the first time "a few weeks later" and while at work, she started to smell a "disturbingly pungent odor."
Upon reaching for a loose string rubbing against her leg, Fiesel said she felt "an unusual bulge" on the dress and discovered that the loose string was the "leg of a dead rodent."
In her formal complaint, Fiesel said she "sustained significant personal injuries and emotional distress" after the incident.
"Zara tortuously manufactured, distributed, delivered, supplied, inspected and/or sold the dress, which was unfit for its intended purpose and unreasonably hazardous, causing personal injury to the plaintiff(Cailey Fiesel)," the complaint read, specifying that Fiesel developed a large rash diagnosed as "rodent born disease."
Meanwhile, Zara's spokesperson told TMZ that "Zara USA is aware of the suit, and we are investigating the matter further. Zara USA has stringent health and safety standards, and we are committed to ensuring that all of our products meet these rigorous requirements." — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas / AT, GMA News
