Trailers for 2016 MMFF entries


Filipinos will be treated to a series of promising local films for Christmas this year.

Eight movies made it to the list of entries of the annual Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), which will run from December 25 until the first week of January 2017.

From a horror piece featuring a deacon and the devil, to a romantic science fiction marked with creative animations, the MMFF promises a wide range of movies that would make the holidays a wonderful experience for film buffs.

Take a look at the trailers of the finalists and choose which to watch this Christmas -- or better yet, watch them all!

"Die Beautiful" by Jun Robles Lana

Starring the Make Up Transformation King Paolo Ballesteros, this film tells the story of a transgender woman who wants to be buried as a woman.

"Die Beautiful" won the Audience Choice Award at the 2016 Tokyo Film Festival, while Paolo took home the Best Actor award.

"Vince & Kath & James" by Ted Boborol

Julia Barretto, Ronnie Alonte, Joshua Garcia tell the story of a love triangle with a modern twist.

"Seklusyon" by Erik Matti

"Seklusyon" promises a chilling telling of a deacon's road to priesthood.

"Kabisera" by Arturo San Agustin & Real Florido

Inspired by a true story, the film tells the story of a family's struggle with justice. Grand Dame of Asian Cinema Nora Aunor leads the cast of award-winning actors and actresses.

"Sunday Beauty Queen" by Baby Ruth Villarama-Gutierrez

This film deals with the stereotype of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) as it tells the story of Pinoy professional helpers' life in Hong Kong.

"Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank 2" by Marlon Rivera

Kapuso actress Eugene Domingo once again stars as Eugene Domingo in the sequel of the award-winning "Ang Babae sa Septic Tank." The movie satirizes the mainstream film industry.

"Saving Sally" by Avid Liongoren

A romantic sci-fi fantasy film, "Saving Sally" blurs the line between daydreams and reality with animations. Kapuso star Rhian Ramos is one of the leads in the movie.
