Catriona Gray makes it to Miss World 2016 Top 20
Catriona Gray, the Philippines' representative to the Miss World 2016 pageant, is now a part of the prestigious pageant's Top 20 candidates after winning the Multimedia Challenge during the fast track competition.
In a Facebook post, the Filipina beauty queen dedicates her performance to her family, loved ones, mentors, and the children of Smokey Mountain.
Gray has entered the Top 5 of the Beauty with a Purpose portion as she continuously advocates for “Paraiso,” a project aimed at giving quality and accessible education to the poor.
“Lord Almighty, thank you for this blessing. To my family, loved ones and mentors, thanks for inspiring me to do better every single day. Mga kababayan, I couldn't have done it without you. Mahal na mahal ko kayo. To the children of Smokey Mountain, THIS IS FOR YOU,” she said.
Catriona added, “THIS IS IT. ONE MORE DAY. The BAYANIHAN Spirit lives on.”
This year, Catriona hopes to follow in the footsteps of Kapuso actress and “Alyas Robin Hood” star Megan Young, who became the Philippines' first and only Miss World titleholder after winning in 2013.
The Miss World 2016 coronation night will be held on December 19, Monday (Manila time).
GMA Network will air the competition at 8:00 a.m., after “Unang Hirit.” — Bianca Rose Dabu/BM, GMA News
