Four Miss Universe candidates arrive in PHL

A few candidates have started arriving in the Philippines three weeks before the MIss Universe pageant on January 30.

In a report by Cata Tibayan on Balitanghali, the first to turn up at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport was Miss US Virgin Islands Carolyn Carter, who is visiting the country for the third time, which has made her somewhat familiar with the Filipino language.

"Mabuhay, ikinagagalak 'kong makadating dito sa Pilipinas," she said.

Meanwhile, it was the first visit of Miss Guyana Soyini Fraser to the country and she said she is excited to taste the Filipino food and experience the culture.

"The food, that's what I'm looking forward to, I've heard you guys cook some of the best sticky rice in ages so I can't wait to try that. I can't wait to experience the Filipino culture," she said.

Two other delegates were warmly welcomed on their arrival: Miss Brazil Raissa Santana and Miss Sierra Leone Hawa Kamara.

Pre-pageant activities will begin on January 14 in Boracay. This will be followed by the candidates tour of Vigan, Cebu, Baguio, Batangas and Davao.
