Pia Wurtzbach thinks Steve Harvey is the perfect host for Miss Universe
Who doesn’t know about the great mishap in the Miss Universe 2015 grand coronation night, where American host Steve Harvey mistakenly announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as Miss Universe, only to come back up stage and say that Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach is the real winner?
Despite the infamous gaffe, the Filipina beauty queen believes that Harvey does a stellar job as host, and she's looking forward to meeting him once again in the 65th Miss Universe grand coronation event, where he will come back as the pageant's main host.
According to Pia, his energy and sense of humor bring the candidates at ease, making the competition less stressful than it is for many.
"We’re already in a competition where we’re very nervous, we don’t know what to expect, but he has these jokes. His energy makes us feel more comfortable. It’s already so nerve-wracking. Having there adds great comic relief to the whole competition," the Filipina beauty queen said.
For her, Harvey gives Miss Universe the life it deserves—a picture of a celebration of beauty and intelligence.
Pia explains, "It doesn’t have to be so stiff, in my opinion. Pageants don’t have to be so (serious). Like, ‘Okay, here’s the winner. Dim the lights.’ Okay… why does it feel like my life is going to end?"
"Come on. This is a beauty pageant—it should be fun, it should be a celebration, and I think that’s exactly the kind of energy he brings to Miss Universe," she added.
