STILL UNSURE ABOUT ENGLISH OR TAGALOG

Maxine to have interpreter at Miss Universe

For the first time ever, a Philippine candidate will be accompanied by an interpreter at the Miss Universe pageant.

But Maxine Medina is still unsure about whether she will answer the question in English or Filipino.

"Siguro masasabi natin on that moment because I consider an interpreter beside me pero it's up to me if I can speak in English or can speak in Tagalog," she said in an interview by Mariz Umali.

Medina has been the subject of some bashing by fans because of her English and communications skills. But she has drawn the support of fellow beauty queens, who have said there's nothing wrong with using an interpreter for the contest.

The Miss Universe grand coronation night will air live on GMA-7 on Monday at 8 a.m. --JST, GMA News
