What advocacies will Iris Mittenaere push as Miss Universe
French beauty queen Iris Mittenaere took home the Miss Universe crown on Monday, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, making her the first delegate from France to win the title in more than 60 years.
Aside from showcasing beauty and intelligence from all over the world, the Miss Universe pageant has also become a platform for women to push for their advocacies, and Mittenarae wants to put all her effort into making sure children from around the world will get the quality education they deserve.
Mittenarae wants to expand her charity that provides health guidance and proper feeding program to a program that will make education more accessible to everyone.
“I will be a dentist in two years. I have a charity for teaching children how to (eat properly. But now that I’m representing the Miss Universe, and I want to do more than that. I really want to bring all the children to school… I think this is really the most important—education for every child, especially for young women,” she said in a press conference shortly after the coronation event.
She cannot wait to travel the world, meet new people, and be “a good Miss Universe.”
“I had the chance to live in France and go to school every morning, and I think every children should have this chance, too,” she said.
Mittenarae also expressed her gratitude to the Filipino people who have been a great audience in the 65th Miss Universe pageant.
“Thank you to all the Filipinos. You are just exceptional. You are so welcoming and lovely to us. It was amazing. I think all of the girls during the pageant loved you,” she said. --JST, GMA News
