Pia Wurtzbach’s final shining moments as Miss Universe

Pia Wurtzbach rightfully won the Miss Universe title last year, and at this year's coronation proved that she has fully grown into her crown.

From her final walk as Miss Universe to her passing the crown on to Miss France Iris Mittenaere, Pia was a queen through and through.

Pretty in pink

Pia was pretty in pink as she was introduced by host Steve Harvey during the 65th Miss Universe pageant at the Mall of Asia Arena on Monday.

She took the opportunity to thank Harvey for inadvertently making her the most popular titleholder due to his awkward blunder at the coronation last year.

Steve mistakenly announced Miss Colombia as Miss Universe 2015 before correcting the error a few minutes later.

"I never got to thank you Steve, but thank you for making me the most popular Miss Universe," Pia said.

To which Harvey replied, "Thank you for making me the most famous host!"

Final walk

Before crowning her successor, Pia took her final walk as Miss Universe.

She wore a regal gown in her signature blue shade as she walked across the stage amid deafening cheers.

A pre-recorded message from Pia expressed her gratitude to her supporters, friends and family for helping her become the woman she is today.

Passing on the crown

Pia also broke the tension that gripped all those who were watching by taking another jab at Harvey's previous mistake.

Right before Harvey announced the new Miss Universe winner, Pia approached him and handed him a pair of glasses.

The moment earned laughter and applause from candidates and audience alike.

After passing over the crown to Iris, Pia hugged Miss Philippines Maxine Medina and made a quick and almost unnoticed exit—but she will always remain in the hearts of Filipinos.
