Pennywise creeps in and haunts as only he can in new ‘IT’ trailer

If you're suffering from coulrophobia, look away. Pennywise is back and he looks menacing.

"IT" is based on a novel by acclaimed writer Stephen King and details the horrifying trail a predatory creature leaves in Derry, Maine. The sadistic creature conjures up your greatest fears, but primarily takes the form of a clown.

The novel was first adapted as a miniseries in 1990 by Tommy Lee Wallace, with Tim Curry scarring a generation for life as Pennywise.

Stepping in to scare the audience anew is Bill Skarsgard (“Allegiant,” TV’s “Hemlock Grove”).

Joining Skarsgard are Jaeden Lieberher (“Midnight Special”), Jeremy Ray Taylor (“Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip”), Sophia Lillis (“37”), Finn Wolfhard (TV’s “Stranger Things”), Wyatt Oleff (“Guardians of the Galaxy”), Chosen Jacobs (upcoming “Cops and Robbers”), Jack Dylan Grazer (“Tales of Halloween”) and Nicholas Hamilton (“Captain Fantastic”).

Andrés Muschietti is directing “IT” from a screenplay adapted by Chase Palmer & Cary Fukunaga and Gary Dauberman. The behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Chung-Hoon Chung (“Me and Earl and the Dying Girl”), production designer Claude Paré (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”), editor Jason Ballantine (“The Great Gatsby”), and costume designer Janie Bryant (TV’s “Mad Men”).

“IT” opens in Philippine cinemas on September 7, 2017. — AT, GMA News
