GABI NG LAGIM V

A boy calling from the other side

They say that you're a veteran call center agent if you know this particular boy.

Mark Ababao was staring at his monitor, talking to a client on the other line when he noticed a kid running inside their production area. During that time, he had no idea if kids were permitted to that place since he was still a neophyte.

As if wanting to play, Mark noticed that the boy seemed to be peeping at him. He stood up, followed the kid's movement with his eyes and saw him running away from their work station.

Mark then asked his supervisor, "Kanina ko pa kasi nakikitang tumatakbo 'yung batang 'yun eh, ano 'yun nakikipaglaro?

"Kanina mo pa siya nakikita?" the supervisor asked.

"Kanina ko pa siya nakikita," Mark confirmed.

Out of fear, the staff immediately ran towards the lobby. Mark who seemed to be clueless asked them, "Ano bang meron? Bakit kayo tumakbo?"

The supervisor revealed, "'Yun na 'yung Junjun... Siya na! Siya si Junjun!"

Mark's colleagues had welcomed him with creepy stories about a faceless kid wearing a white shirt and black shorts.

Once during a training session, they counted 13 trainees when only 12 participated. The extra person, they believe, is Junjun.

There were also rumors that an agent died in one of the work stations and the staff avoided it, as they have believed that it was also Junjun's favorite spot in the office. Employees talk about seeing him running around in that area.

Mark resigned from this company and found a new job, believing that this would put an end to the creepy encounters, but...

He was in his new office when the friend he was with asked him,"Narinig mo ba 'yun or nakikita mo ba 'yun?'"

Out of curiosity, he went to the area and saw nothing. When he turned his back, he suddenly heard someone typing and banging the computer's mouse.

Mark could only describe the ghost in this other office as angry. Whether it was for revenge, he couldn't say. But it was filled with rage and would knock things off of tables and even hit some of Mark's colleagues, leaving red marks on their skin.

He looked like smoke shaped like a boy — dark, faceless.

During an interview with "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho" at the office, Mark turned the staff's attention to the bathroom door, which seemed to move on its own. A staff who had used the bathroom confirmed that he sensed something in the area, too. He had rushed out of the room and made sure to close the door.

Mark detailed other creepy incidents in the office such as in the elevator and the sleeping quarters.

Strong, cold hands would grip him and with his own eyes he saw Junjun pass through the ceiling.

Why does Junjun haunt the office?

So how did it start? "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho" learned of rumors that Junjun's mother, a call center agent, once brought him during an event in their office.

He was not allowed to enter the event's main venue so his mother left him in the lobby and let him play with his ball.

"Since na hindi puwedeng mag-akyat ng bata sa taas, puwedeng iniwan siya sa may lobby, and then, siguro nakita niya 'yong elevator, na-amazed yung bata, pumasok siya. Tapos it's either naipit siya or na-stuck siya sa loob ng elevator, 'yon ang ikinamatay ni Junjun," call center agent Ryan Bayuta told KMJS.

Bayuta shared that Junjun seems to haunt different call center offices.

Gemma Louise Alsiso, also a call center agent, said that there have been stories about Junjun in Baguio as well.

She recalls an encounter in the sleeping quarters, when she felt some presence holding her down.

"Posibleng 'yong nanay niya 'yong sumakal sa akin tapos 'yong bata 'yong humawak sa noo or sa ulo ko," Gemma said. "Sa may ulonan, d'on ako hinila. Feeling ko may humihila paloob sa kama."

When she woke up, she found herself under the bed.

"Pag gising ko bakit ang lapit n'ong... ewan ko kung ceiling 'yon pero paggising ko ang lapit nung parang wall or something. And then, na-realized ko nand'on na ako sa ilalim ng kama," she said.

According to her father, the office building used to be a factory before the 1990 earthquake. Many people died, including children.

Meanwhile, spooky incidents continue to haunt call center agents, as unusual voice joins conversations with clients on the phone and ghosts reveal themselves on photos.

"Sounds like you got your little one on the other end," a client once said to an agent.

Could this voice be Junjun trying to engage in the conversation?

Medical experts say that the disrupted sleep patterns of call center agents might make them prone to experiencing hallucinations and their brain draws from horror stories they hear.

Paranormal investigators, on the other hand, believe that the some of the office buildings are truly haunted...but similarly warned against the power of sharing scary stories. The negative energy from collective fear might just make Junjun appear.  — Anna Felicia Bajo / AT, GMA News
