College of Engineering wins 2017 UP Lantern Parade


For the fourth time in a row, the College of Engineering won first place at the annual Lantern Parade in the University of the Philippines Diliman.

Their lantern was an impressive and colorful carousel, which prominently displayed a rainbow flag and a math book.

The College of Arts and Letters came in second with their marionettes, while the College of Mass Communication came in third with a more political carousel.

The lanterns were judged based on adherence to the theme, creative of use of environmental friendly or recycable materials, and overall visual impact.

This year’s theme is “Paaralan, Palaruan.”

The winners received P30,000, P20,000, and P15,000 respectively.

The contingents from the College of Fine Arts competed in their own category with each presenting a visualization of human rights.

Freedom of Expression won first place, Health Care placed second, and Special Needs clinched third. — BAP, GMA News
