Sharon attends book launch of Sen. Kiko Pangilinan

Sen. Kiko Pangilinan on Saturday launched his second book "Tagsibol" at the Museum Café in Makati and of course, wife Sharon Cuneta and kids Frankie and Miel were present.

On Facebook, Sen. Kiko posted a photo and thanked his wife “sa pagsuporta sa farm at sa bagong libro.”

Said the megastar, unlike his first book “Indie”, Kiko wrote “Tagsibol” himself and “took most of the pictures too!”, the megastar exclaimed on social media.

“It is all about how he ‘created’ our small but beloved farm, how growing only organic veggies is non-negotiable to us; how our children became more respectful and appreciate of God’s blessings of food because they learned how they are grown, where their food comes from,” Sharon continued.

 

At 4PM at the Museum Cafe in Greenbelt 4, Makati City today, Kiko is going to launch his second book after “Indie.” This one though, “Tagsibol,” he wrote himself. It is all about how he “created” our small but beloved farm. How growing only organic veggies is non-negotiable to us; how our children became more respectful and appreciative of God’s blessings of food because they learned how they are grown, where their food comes from. A little sleuthing on social media reveals that the Senator is quite a farm fanatic, having taken up the hobby six years ago in 2012.

He likes posting photos of his Sweet Springs farm located in Alfonso, Cavite, the many harvests it brings including lettuce, tomatoes, and onions, and even some farm know-hows like how to fight infestations of aphids on the siling labuyo plant using organic pesticide, for instance.

 

Organic lettuce, cherry tomatoes and thai chili peppers. Healthy and delicious farm produce.

The picture on the left is the siling labuyo plant infested with aphids. On the right is the same sili plant one day after with less infestation due to the application of the organic pesticide composed of 10 pcs of crushed siling labuyo, 1/4 teaspoon of perla soap and half a liter of water mixed and sprayed. A few more sprays (3x a week) supported by additional vermicast organic fertilizer (one handful a week) will nurse the plant back to full health.
