Alyssa reveals her strategy for Reina Hispanoamericana: Slay, but stay sweet

Less than two weeks of preparation? It's not big deal for recently crowned Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas Alyssa Muhlach Alvarez.

During her send-off, Alyssa said that reigning Reina Hispanoamericana Teresita Ssen "Winwyn" Marquez has shared with her some winning tips for the competition.

Alyssa said that while other people are making it seem like the pageant is highly competitive, Winwyn stressed the importance of being sweet, nice, and kind.

"She told me to just be myself and to be kind to other people. I think that's what set her apart from other people," she told the press.

Alyssa's introduction video is wrapped up and ready to air, giving her time to focus on studying Spanish while also getting her wardrobe together. On Saturday, October 20, she'll be on her way to Bolivia.

"When I get there, I don't want to seem unprepared. Even if I don't speak Spanish fluently, I still want to be able to initiate short conversations with the people."

The beauty queen spoke with confidence during her send-off, assuring everyone that she will be at her best. She told the press "I would like to think I could win it."

A back-to-back win might seem like a tall order, but Alyssa said that she did her research. "Dalawang back-to-back (win) na po ang nangyari sa Reina (Hispanoamericana) — Venezuela and Bolivia. I hope we'll be the third! Pilipinas!"
