Eva Patalinjug on early Miss Grand Int'l exit: ‘I already won even before I lost’
Success is a matter of perspective. Despite failing to secure a spot in the Top 20 of the 2018 Miss Grand International pageant, Cebuana beauty queen Eva Psychee Patalinjug is going home feeling like a winner.
A day after the coronation night, Eva shared on Instagram a video of herself holding the Philippine flag and proudly saying, "Hanggang sa dulo, mahal ko kayo Pilipinas!"
Though clearly teary-eyed in the video, Eva explained that she wasn't crying about her loss.
"I cried not because I felt bad but because I can really feel the love and support from the people all over the world, specially my loving country, PHILIPPINES!," she said.
"That being said, I already won even before I lost," Eva added.
Eva had hoped to be the first Filipina to win the Miss Grand International crown, but she understands that her performance in the pageant doesn't define her.
"Crowns and titles are not a measurement of one’s capability to do great things. I have served my purpose and that purpose is to show courage, determination, beauty and substance as a Filipina," Eva declared.
The beauty queen shared the same sentiment after she slipped during the preliminary competition, emphasizing the ability to stand after a fall. — AT, GMA News
