Atom Araullo named a UNHCR goodwill ambassador

Kapuso broadcast journalist Atom Araullo has been named a National Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

According to a report on 24 Oras on Tuesday, UNHCR Representative to the Philippines Shinji Kubo bestowed the title on Araullo, who has been a high-profile advocate for the UNHCR since 2017.

His first i-Witness documentary was about the Rohingya refugees who fled to Bangladesh from Myanmar.

Araullo said that it is a huge privilege to become a voice advocating for the rights of millions of refugees around the world, and that he wishes to visit other areas in the world to better aid them. — Jessica Bartolome/BM, GMA News
