Rain or shine, LGBTQ+ community celebrates Pride Month with a bang

They will surely make it through the rain, as the incessant drizzle failed to dampen the spirit of Pride.

Thousands of people converged at the Marikina Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and fight for its members' rights during the 2019 Metro Manila Pride March.

“Rain or shine, Happy Pride!” chanted the protesters, nonchalant about the overcast skies.

The streets surrounding the complex was splashed with color as members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies gave it their all and brought their rainbow flags and colorful outfits to the march.

Religious groups, super moms, celebrities, organizations, and corporations all came to join the fanfare and help make it happen.

At one point, emotions ran high when a Pride protester confronted one of the hecklers who was standing at the sidelines of the parade’s route, preaching about receiving judgement from God. — MDM, GMA News
