Visit 7 beautiful churches across the Philippines through this virtual Visita Iglesia

We might not have been able to practice Visita Iglesia this year due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) threat, but we can still have a semblance of this Holy Week tradition.

Just in time for Good Friday, GMA Digitial Media has prepared a virtual Visita Iglesia featuring some of the most beautiful churches across the Philippines.

First up is San Agustin Church in Intramuros — a Unesco World Heritage site and the oldest stone church in the country.

Next is Our Lady of the Abandoned Parish in Santa Ana, Manila. This 300-year-old structure houses a revered image of its patron that was created in Valencia, Spain in 1713.

We then travel all the way to the Daraga Church in Albay. The structure and its patron, Nuestra Senora de la Porteria, are believed to have withstood the airplane bombings in 1945 during World War II.

How about a visit to the "Mother of all Churches"? The Minor Basilica and Metropolitan Cathedral of the Immaculate Concepcion in Manila is the first cathedral in the Philippines.

You can also gaze upon the famous antique display of the Saint Gregory The Great Parish Church in Majayjay, which was named a National Cutlural Treasure by the National Museum.

Next, we have the Basílica Menor del Santo Niño in Cebu, which is a total must-see for Visita Iglesia. Devotees usually flock there to see the splendid and historical holy structure every year.

Finally, we have the San Pedro Cathedral in Davao. Every visit is like going back in time to the Spanish era. The architectural beauty, which dates back to 1847, is also considered a National Cultural Treasure.

Have a safe Holy Week, mga Kapuso!
