What it's like to work on an action film with Chris Hemsworth, according to his 'Extraction' co-stars
We all saw Chris Hemsworth play a mighty superhero in one of the biggest movie franchises in history: “The Avengers.”
Now, the Australian actor has a gritty new action-thriller on Netflix called “Extraction,” where he plays fearless blackmarket mercenary Tyler Rake who goes on a deadly mission: To rescue an imprisoned crime lord’s kidnapped son.
GMA News Online got to talk to his Indian co-stars Rudhraksh Jaiswal, the newcomer who played the boy, Ovi, and Randeep Hooda, the established actor who plays Tyler’s nemesis Saju.
During the video interview courtesy of Netflix, Jaiswal shared that working with the one and only Chris Hemsworth in "Extraction" was quite a learning experience.
“He’s been giving me tips and techniques, how can I improve my acting performances, he enhanced my skills and performances. It's been great," he said.
But like the rest of us, 16-year-old Jaiswal was blown away by Chris' performance as Thor on the Avengers. So you can imagine his reaction when he got the part of Ovi.
“It’s phenomenal. It’s brilliant to have worked with such a legendary actor. I mean, I’ve grown up watching his films,” Jaiswal shared.
“He’s been my screen idol for so many years and I have always been a fan of his character, his films, and the way he approaches his characters with such uniqueness," he added.
The young actor even shared a little accident on-set after which Chris apologized to Jaiswal for getting a scratch on his chest.
But Jaiswal just said, “No sir, it’s okay! I got a permanent autograph on my chest so I’m very happy about it.”
“He (then) burst into laughter and was laughing like hell,” he shared.
Hooda meanwhile felt like he really got to know Chris due to their fight scenes.
“You really get to know somebody when you fight them, so in that sense, we really got to know quite intimately -- breathing, and sweating and hitting each other and missing each other and, yeah, so it was good and he gives his 110 percent to everything he does," he said.
According to Hooda, Chris gave one of his best performances in “Extraction.”
“You’ll see him in a different light. He made me cry when I watched the film, and I think this movie is a feather in his cap as an actor and as well as a producer,” the actor said.
And now, as “Extraction” is available on Netflix, Hooda believes the audience who are under home quarantine due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) would agree.
I feel, in this pandemic, that we are all facing a very critical situation in the history of our planet and, in that, we have these not-so-pleasant days where everybodyes quarantined at home,” Hooda said.
“They need a break from the mundane and this will really give them a little break from their mental state and the state of the world and take them on a journey which is throbbing, pulsating, full of action and emotion,” he added.
