Army reservist chides Mandaluyong resident for not wearing a mask, then gives him one for free

A man walking around Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City without a face mask was halted and scolded by an Army reservist.

However, the incident ended in a good note, as the reservist ended up giving the resident a free face mask and letting him go.

Photos of the incident were shared by the Mandaluyong City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office on Facebook, the post garnering over 8,000 engagements from netizens.

Last month, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) called on local government units to pass an ordinance in their respective localities requiring the public to wear face masks as a preventive measure against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

It also said that wearing face masks outdoor will always be part of the new normal in the Philippines.

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles had also said the government has made mandatory the wearing of face masks by residents of areas covered by the enhanced community quarantine.

The enhanced community quarantine has been extended in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, and other high risk areas until May 15.
