Miss Universe Philippines 2020’s Best National Costume is Mandaue City bet’s ‘bibingka vendor’ dress


Mandaue City candidate Lou Dominique Piczon, who wore an outstanding dress inspired by bibingka vendors, took home the Best National Costume award during the preliminary round of the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 aired last night.

According to its designer Danny Booc, the dress is actually called “the bibingka vendor.”

It was “inspired by vendors who sell native rice cake or ‘bibingka,’ a famous delicacy of the City of Mandaue, carefuly crafted with sophistication, elegance and appreciation to our culture,” Danny wrote on Facebook, Friday.

His design, Danny shared, was made with rattan and rafia fiber, wooden beads, abaca ropes and dried anahaw leaves.
