GMA Kapuso Foundation provides aid to 5,500 Maring-affected Ilocos Sur locals

Over 5,500 individuals in Ilocos Sur who were affected by the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Maring received food and relief goods from GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to a Monday “24 Oras” report, among the beneficiaries was Teresita Cortez who made her home available to around 20 people when it started flooding.

Although she also suffered badly in the storm - her plants and pets were carried away by the flood - Cortez still took the time to wash the mud away from the rice she had so everyone could eat.

“Maganda po yung pakiramdam na makapag-pakain ka, makatulong ka ng kapwa,” Cortez said.

(It feels nice to feed and help others.)

Also among the beneficiaries was 69-year-old Lolita Caabay who did not expect the flood to rise as high as a person, and have all their belongings washed away.

Thankfully, she said, everyone in their family was able to come out of the calamity safe.

Apart from giving relief goods, residents from six barangays in Sta. Cruz, Sta. Lucia, and Narvacan were also given food to eat through the “Operation Bayanihan” project.

The GMA Kapuso Foundation is still accepting donations through bank deposits, Pay Maya, Cebuana Lhuillier, Shopee, GCash, Zalora, and Mega Mart.
