Taylor Swift is the only woman among the Top 10 highest paid musicians of 2021
Taylor Swift has landed in Rolling Stone's list of Top 10 Highest Paid Musicians of 2021.
As the music publication noted, she is the only woman in the list with $80 million, right after Blake Shelton ($83 million). Bruce Springsteen topped the list ($590 million).
"Underscoring the industry’s persistent pay gap, they’re all white men," the article said. "You have to expand to the top 15 to find music’s second highest-paid woman or an act born outside the United States."
Jay-Z ($470 million) and Kanye West ($250 million) also made it to the Top 10.
Swift landing on the Top 10 was aided by her move to re-record her old albums, Rolling Stone said.
"Both topped the charts, with Red (Taylor’s Version) and Fearless (Taylor’s Version) becoming the No. 2 and No. 4 albums of 2021 in terms of total sales, respectively," it said.
The singer has been re-recording her old albums amid her ongoing legal battle to gain ownership of her old songs.
She released both "Fearless (Taylor's Version)" and "Red (Taylor's Version)" in 2021. —JCB, GMA News
