Miss Benguet Shawntel Cruz reveals why she missed Miss Universe Philippines 2022 coronation night

Miss Benguet Shawntel Cruz has revealed why she missed the Miss Universe Philippines 2022 coronation night held Saturday at SM Mall of Asia Arena.

On Instagram, Shawntel said she had contracted dengue, which she acquired during their travel activities.

“Today would have been the greatest [fight] in my pageantry career,” she wrote. “But then I had to pause and make my health a priority.”

The candidate said she had “been battling with fever, nausea, fatigue, rashes and frequent nose bleeding; I had to push myself hard to make it until the preliminaries because I know that I’m not that type of person who easily gives up on things.”

She added: “Dengue is not something to be taken lightly.”

Although she missed this year’s finals, Shawntel believed she would have another chance for the crown. She is also still thankful for many things.

“I may not be able to fight today, but there will always be tomorrow. At this point in time I’ve seen my greatest blessings. I have received more than the crown on my head,” she said.

“Grateful for my Almighty God who has always strengthened, protected and blessed me with Families, Friends, Fanmilies and My Province, Benguet. You all are my greatest treasures.”

Before ending her post, she had this to say: “For in God’s timing, He will make it happen. I’ll see you all again, your Miss Universe Philippines, Benguet, Shawntel Cruz.”
