LILY makes pointed jabs online following Kean Cipriano's disengagement from the band

Following Kean Cipriano's disengagement from iconic band Callalily, the group now known as LILY seemingly made a jab at their former vocalist.

"Help! Naghahanap kasi kami ng magandang name ng vocalist na papalit, 'yung tunog mag-se-stay," they said in a Facebook post. "Suggest kayo dali!"

Prior to that, they also hit back at Kean and O/C Record’s statement which said that he wanted the band members to grow artistically.

“Masakit iwanan pero mas masakit sabihin niyang di siya nag-grow pagkatapos ka niyang pakinabangan," they said.

Last week, it was reported that Kean left the band that he fronted for 17 years.

In an exclusive interview with GMA News Online, Chynna Ortaleza, Kean's wife and O/C Records Vice President, clarified he did not leave the band, but rather disengaged from them.

“He feels like there's a new kind of creativity being asked of [him] at the moment. Of course, he feels grateful na 17 years na siyang naa-appreciate for the hits of Callalily but at the same time, he feels like there’s much more to [his] musicality that [he] can explore,” said Chynna.

“Siyempre, he was trying his best din naman to do his own thing but the thing is, again, at the end of the day, he just felt like it’s been 17 years. It’s time for each individual to grow artistically,” she added.

On June 23, the same day the reports circulated online, LILY posted a photo of members Lem Belaro, Aaron Ricafrente, Alden Acosta, and Nates Reyes on Facebook with the caption, “Pag kumanta ba kami ng ‘Magbalik,’ babalik ka[?]”

In the comments section, the band wrote, “Salamat sa [suporta] ninyong lahat. We are here to stay and we will still bring to you the songs that made OUR childhood. Tuloy tuloy lang kami and tuloy tuloy lang namin ibabahagi ang kwento namin. See you soon guys. Mahal namin kayo,” with the four members signing their names.

The following day, LILY changed their Facebook profile picture to their new logo with the caption, “Magsimula nalang ulit sa simula dahil naagaw ka niya.”

Former member Alden, who was with the band from 2005 to 2010, was then announced to rejoin LILY. The band wrote, “May umalis pero may muling nagbalik… Welcome back Alden ‘the [left-hand] guitarist’ Acosta. Paturo naman mag tininiw lods!”

Then on the 25th, Lily announced that they will be releasing a new song titled “Sinayang.” They teased that the song has the lyrics, “Di na ko magpapakita, doon ka nalang kung saan ka masaya, konti nalang at manhid na, kaya sakit ay dagdagan mo pa.”

A release date is yet to be shared. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA News
