Netizen captures photo of rainbow-colored sun halo in Bulacan
A netizen captured a photo of a sun halo on Saturday afternoon in Baliwag, Bulacan.
Taken by YouScooper Evelyn Lapeña, the photo shows a rainbow-colored halo around the sun.
Evelyn said she took the photo at 12:58 pm using her phone.
According to EarthSky, sun halos are caused by high cirrus clouds which contain tiny ice crystals that refract and reflect light.
Scientists call this ring of light a 22-degree halo, as the radius of the circle is approximately 22 degrees.
Word of caution: take great care when photographing the sun. Avoid looking directly as it may damage your eyes. Consider using special equipment such as solar filters to keep yourself safe.
