Karla Estrada 'very proud' to sing the national anthem at the opening of 19th Congress

Karla Estrada is singing the Philippine national anthem at the opening of the 19th Congress.

Lawmakers are set to elect their new House Speaker on Monday morning at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City.

The actress, singer, and host is part of the Tingog Sinirangan Party-List as its third nominee.

“I’m very excited. This is the first time na naka-attend tayo ng SONA,” she told reporters.

"I’m very proud that I'll be singing the national anthem sa pagbubukas ng voting natin," she added.

Estrada said that the SONA is "historical" for her because President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos is "kababayan."

"Madam Imelda’s from Leyte and ako po ay taga Tacloban City," she added.

Marcos Jr. is set to hold his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) in the afternoon, exactly 25 days since he took his oath as the 17th President of the Philippines.

He is expected to unveil his plans for the country in the next 12 months. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA News
