Athena Madrid bares plans to vie for Miss World Philippines crown

Athena Madrid is planning to vie for the Miss World Philippines crown!

The Kapuso actress revealed this in a recent interview with PEP.ph, saying she plans to start pageant training after taping for an upcoming GMA-7 series.

"'Yon 'yung nilu-look forward ko in the coming months. Hopefully, after this 'Unica Hija' taping, mag-start na ako ng training for Miss World," she said.

"Training lang muna kasi feeling ko marami pa akong dapat pag-aralan, marami pa akong dapat ma-experience," she added.

("That's what I'm looking forward to in the coming months, Hopefully, after this 'Unica Hija' taping, I could start training for Miss World.")

Athena admitted, however, that she is she still young and she doesn't feel ready yet to enter the competition. She aims to improve her communication skills.

"Ang daming nagsasabi rin sa akin na kapag sumali ka ng Miss World, kailangan magaling ka rin magsalita eh do'n ako hirap," she said.

"Kailangan ko pang mag-aral nang mabuti, ng tamang pag-rampa, ng tamang pagsagot," she added.

("Many people tell me that when you join Miss World, you need to be good at speaking but that's where I have difficulty. I need to study more, the proper walk, the proper way to answer questions.")

Among the inspirations she mentioned include Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi and Miss Universe winners Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray.

Currently, Athena is set to show more of her acting skills on "Unica Hija" starring Kate Valdez.
