Sharing smiles this Christmas

Sharing smiles this Christmas cover

After two years of heightened restrictions and lockdowns, it’s time to celebrate once again, together. McDonalds, through its charity of choice, Ronald McDonald House Charities Philippines or RMHC, and Coca-cola, collaborated to share smiles and to bring the magic of togetherness to residents of Sitio Pintor through a donation drive and Christmas party held last December 11.

“Ngayon lang kami nakaranas, masaya po (this is a first, it’s so much fun), a beaming Edita Moldes shared. The 55-year-old grandma said they were ready for the party as early as 8 am. She brought Gerald, her 8-year-old grandson, to the celebration.

“We are happy because this event is part of McDonald’s Share the Light Program,” said Marie Angeles, RMHC Executive Director.  “It aims to provide Filipino families with a memorable Christmas,” Angeles added.

With the help of the local government, the residents experienced how McDo parties are thrown: with a party host, parlor games, prizes, and special appearance from Ronald McDonald and the Gang.  Adults also sang with celebrity, KZ Tandingan.

After the activities, McDonald’s and Coca-cola employees distributed McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen Meals and noche  buena packs, which include an 8-pc Chicken McShare and 1.5L Coca Cola bottle, to all attendees. Kids also took home Happy Meal toys.

Edita was eager to head home.  She said she will share the food she received with all her children and grandchildren. When asked for her thoughts, Edita smiled and said she was thankful. Even with face masks on, the glimmer in her and Gerald’s eyes say how much they enjoyed the event.

Since 2020, over 800,000 Kindness Kitchen meals and 2 million Happy Meal toys were donated by McDonald’s. This year’s beneficiaries also include DepEd Region XII in Lanao Del Norte, Makati Medical Center, Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force, Metro Manila Development Authority, Presidential Security Group, and Ronald McDonald Bahay Bulilit to name a few.

Helping create more feel-good moments is possible.  With McDonald’s, you too can help spread some goodness this holiday season and throughout the year. To share the gift of smiles, just donate via rmhc.org.ph/donate.
