Miss Universe Philippines’ national director Shamcey Supsup also penned a lengthy appreciation post on Instagram for Celeste.
“You fought bravely to raise the Filipino flag on that stage and what truly matters is that you gave it your all and made your country proud,” the Miss Universe 2011 3rd runner-up wrote.
Shamcey then acknowledged the new era of Miss Universe, which is now heavily based on “breaking stereotypes and embracing diversity.”
“Apart from the glitz and glamour, we are again reminded of the true essence of this platform,” she said.
“Our work continues to be a venue for women to find a purpose larger than themselves and to use their collective voices to create an unstoppable force for GOOD,” she added.
Celeste ended her Miss Universe journey after failing to advance to the Top 16 during the grand coronation night held at Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The 71st Miss Universe was the first competition under the management of its new owner, Anne Jakrajutatip, who delivered an impactful speech on Sunday to usher in a new era for the prestigious pageant.
"From now on, it's gonna be run by women, owned by transwomen, for all women around the world to celebrate the power of feminism, diverse cultures, social inclusion, gender equality, creativity, a force for good, and the beauty of humanity," Jakrajutatip said.
