Is Gen Z too sensitive? Lexi Gonzales, Hailey Mendes, Elijah Alejo answer
One thing that is said about Gen Z is that it is a sensitive generation. But what do Gen Z themselves think of this?
In the latest episode of the "Updated With Nelson Canlas" podcast, "Underage" stars Lexi Gonzales, Hailey Mendes, and Elijah Alejo shared their thoughts about their generation's attitudes.
"Actually we're not a snowflake generation, rather we are a generation that's empowered enough to speak our minds," Lexi said.
"We will not take anything from anyone. Na if na-offend kami, sasabihin namin," she said.
Rather than being sensitive, Lexi said her generation has the courage and the strength to call out things they see as wrong.
Elijah agreed, saying that her generation thinks more about others and how they feel.
"Iniisip na nila ngayon 'yung mga iba like, 'Hala, is this offensive?' and we aren't afraid to kumbaga call out people na nakakagawa ng offensive na bagay. Kahit
hindi naman necessarily kami 'yong na-o-offend," she said.
Hailey, for her part, said her generation may indeed come across as sensitive because they pay attention to many issues, but that also makes them powerful, especially as women.
"We are more comfortable with our minds na we can fight for ourselves," Lexi said. "But also at the same time siyempre there's limit... I hope our generation also would understand na may times din na kami naman sumosobra kami and nakaka-offend kami ng ibang tao."
"Pero I think what I like about this generation is it's a stronger generation."
"Underage," GMA Network's newest Afternoon Prime series, tells a story about three young sisters who have to face a Gen Z issue: going viral on social media for the wrong reasons.
Also starring Sunshine Cruz, Snooky Serna, Christian Vasquez, and Gil Cuerva, among others, it airs on weekdays at 3:15 p.m.
