GMA Kapuso Foundation partners with Quezon LGU to deworm over 300 kids

More than 300 children, aged five and up in General Nakar, Quezon received deworming tablets, vitamins and hygiene packs from the GMA Kapuso Foundation in observance of the National Deworming Month, according to a report on "24 Oras."

The activity aims to spread awareness on combatting parasitism among Filipino children, which could lead to other illnesses.

"Maiwasan 'yung anemia and malnutrition sa bata kaya tayo nagkaroon ng deworming kada anim na buwan," said Rea Mortiz Merana, the school district nurse.

Merana added that the possible causes of having a worm in the stomach include dirty nails and when food isn't covered with a lid and when children eat the meal without washing their hands.

GMA gave vitamins from Rhea Generics and baby wash and soap from Colgate. They also taught the children how to wash their hands properly.

This was under the "Give a Gift, Feed a Child" program to provide proper nutrition. It was also in partnership with DepEd-Quezon and LGU - Nakar, Quezon.—Kimberly Tsao/LDF, GMA Integrated News
