GMA Kapuso Foundation extends holiday cheer to Surigao del Sur earthquake survivors

Days before Christmas, numerous residents of Surigao del Sur were impacted by a 7.4 magnitude earthquake.

Lelia Bibat is one of those who vividly remembers the moment when the earthquake struck.

“Nung lindol, natakot kami kasi malakas. Hindi namin alam kung ano ang gagawin nun. ‘Yung bubong sa aming CR nahulog tapos ‘yung sa lababo ng CR nababa ‘yung poste,” she shared.

The earthquake left her traumatized, but her granddaughter is helping to strengthen her resolve.

Lelia’s family is among those who received Noche Buena packages and toys from the GMA Kapuso Foundation in collaboration with the 67th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army.

“Asahan niyo po na ang 67th IB ay handang tumulong sa mga aktibidad na makakatulong sa ating komunidad,” shared 2LT Pamela Calleja, CMO officer of the 67IB.

Around 4,000 children from Tagbina, Surigao del Sur received gifts from GMA Kapuso Foundation.
