200K devotees attend Sinulog 2024’s ‘Walk with Jesus’

Cebu City has officially kicked off the celebration of this year’s Sinulog Festival!

According to Fe Marie Dumaboc’s report on “24 Oras,” Friday, 200,000 devotees attended the “Walk with Jesus” activity.

Ten to 11 masses daily are now being held at the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño.

Earlier this afternoon, the city formally launched the cultural activities, which will end during the Sinulog Grand Mardi Gras on January 21.

With the expected crowd that will flock to upcoming events, officials have started enhancing security measures.

A total of 3,500 police officers and other law enforcement agency members were deployed for the entire celebration.

Tomorrow, an advanced performance by contingents from different barangays in Cebu City will be held, and on Sunday, the Sinulog will be witnessed in the entire city, which will be attended by its different municipalities. —Carby Basina/Sherylin Untalan/LDF, GMA Integrated News
