GMA News Online managing editor Lou Albano gets featured on Philippine Tatler for climate journalism efforts

GMA News Online managing editor Jhoanna Lou Albano was featured on the digital arm of Tatler Philippines for her contributions to climate journalism in the Philippines.

On Instagram, the high society magazine described Albano as "one of the country's leading sustainable advocates."

"In her two-decade stint as an environmental writer, she learnt the importance of disseminating verified, science-based information," Tatler Philippines wrote.

In the feature, the Kapuso journalist discussed important matters related to the environment, including climate change and greenwashing.

"Climate change is no joke; worse, it is not in some distant future. It is already here," she told Tatler.

"There is so much disinformation and greenwashing swirling around; we all need verified and factual information to help us understand it all," she added.

In 2023, Albano published a story on the presence of microplastics in Metro Manila air, which gained national and international attention.

Albano was the lone Filipino participant to be included in the membership of the second cohort of the Oxford Climate Journalism Network in 2022.

She was also named among journalists in the Asian American Journalists Association's 2022 executive leadership program.
