Ahead of Mother’s Day, over 100 moms from Pampanga spend day off, receive gifts from GMA Kapuso Foundation

In celebration of this year’s Mother’s Day, GMA Kapuso Foundation organized a special day for more than 100 mothers in San Simon, Pampanga.

According to “24 Oras,” Friday, this includes Mary De Jesus, who makes a living by polishing and varnishing wooden chairs and bed frames.

She earns P150 to P200 for every piece of furniture she sells, which she peddles on her own using a tricycle.

“Sobrang naming daming vendor dito, hindi puwedeng hindi ka lumayo. Umaalis kami nang tulog pa ‘yung mga bata, uuwi ka walang benta. Hindi mo alam kung may pagkain, kung kumain na ‘yung anak mo o hindi pa,” Mary said in tears.

Agnes Alpes also has the same source of income as Mary.

“Masakit po sa ilong. ‘Pag wala kang takip, uubuhin ka doon, magkakahika ka pa. Kaya lang tinitiis lang namin,” she said.

GMA Kapuso Foundation and Ace Hub Medical Diagnostic Laboratory organized a free pap smear and breast examination for 142 women.

“Para malaman kung may abnormal cells po sa kwelyo ng matres para kung sakali po maprevent po natin ang pagkakaroon ng cervical cancer,” Dr. Limboan said.

“It’s very important to do these medical missions dahil ‘di ganoon kamura ang mga medical exams,” Ace Hub Medical owner Jennifer Bonifacio said.

They were also given grocery packs, hygiene kits, vitamins, and appliances. Free haircuts were also offered.

“Malaking tulong po sa amin. Naginhawahan din po ako, ‘yun na ang pinaka rest ng katawan ko,” Agnes said.
