CCP Gawad Alternatibo films are streaming on Cinemata until Sept. 21
Did you miss the short films that were screened at the 36th Gawad CCP Para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Video early this month?
Fret not! Select films from the film competition are free to stream until Sept. 21 on Cinemata.
The short films available to stream under the animation category include "Wet Willie" by Constantine Theo Remular; "Haidi" by Jericho Jesus Ragunton Peria; "Ngayon at Kahapon" by Mitzi Ann P. Delima; "Ili-Ili" by John Clister D. Santos; "Biringan: Hanapan ng Nawawala" by Mercy C. De Felix; "Daisy" by Pepot Atienza, Aditi Dixit, and Shecid Aguilera; and "Wetsitales: Mengal Kapitan Tercero" by Jade Dandan Evangelista.
Under the documentary category, seven films are available to stream. These are the following: "Los Mandayas" by Jhayzen Parañal; "Ikaw Ang Liwanag Ko" by Gina Tobias; "Singoy (Diwata ng Sito Kalangitan)" by Shaira Mari Guiyab; "My Boy Superman" by Jonathan Jurilla; "Lunod" by Mads Miraflor; "Etaku I-Bogwa" by Jessica Namujhe; "Dolor" by Christian Joshua D. Lomahan.
Viewers can also stream two short films under the narrative category, namely "Beep Beep" by Iane Patacsil and "Alien" by Drexler Jaramel and Dexter Paul de Jesus.
Eight films under the experimental category are also up for streaming: "APAPATIKANSIMANSIM" by Andreia Leigh Bernardo; "Rod" by Ulap Chua; "Salang" by T; "Litraso" by Clarisse Olalia Tagayun; "Waiting Sheds The Life Off a Moth" by Minnesota S. Flores; "Baligho (Absurd)" by Bob Macabenta; "Daluyong Ng Ingay (Waves of Noise)" by Demie Dangla; and "Dominion" by Bea Mariano.
These select films may also be streamed on the website of Gawad Alternatibo.
Called Gawad Alternatibo for short, the film festival was held simultaneously with the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival from Aug. 3 to 10, with this year's entries selected from more than 500 submissions.
"Rod" by Ulap Chua won 1st Place for the Experimental category at this year's CCP Gawad Alternatibo. Other 1st Place winners include "Ili-Ili" by John Clister D. Santos (Animation), "Kasama Kang Tumanda" by Bianca Maxine Villanueva (Documentary), and "Bagets" by Lester Cristal (Narrative).
Known as the oldest short film festival of its kind in Southeast Asia, Gawad Alternatibo aims to spotlight the best of Filipino short films in four categories: Animation, Experimental, Documentary, and Short Feature/Narrative.
