Jessica Soho's KMJS episode 'Nickel and Dime', Pia Arcangel named finalists in the 2024 Association for International Broadcasting Awards
GMA Network’s veteran journalist Pia Arcangel and "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho" have been shortlisted for the 2024 Association for International Broadcasting Awards (AIBs).
The "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho" episode, which tackled the destruction of Homonhon Island in Guiuan, Eastern Samar due to massive mining, is shortlisted under the Sustainability category.
Arcangel is up against seven journalists from the likes of Al Jazeera English and CNA, Mediacorp Pte Ltd in Singapore for the Presenter of the Year category. Last year, she was shortlisted for the same category Radio / Audio / Podcast for the podcast "Surprise Guest with Pia Arcangel."
Aside from GMA Network's Arcangel and KMJS, Filipino journalist Buena Bernal and the CNA team received a nomination in the Video-Breaking News category for their work titled ''On board the Philippines' civilian mission convoy to the South China Sea.''
Hosted by the country’s most-awarded broadcast journalist, Jessica Soho, KMJS has been reaping awards left and right. It was most recently given the special citation in social media in the 12th PMAP Makatao Awards for Media Excellence for the "Paglaya sa Kadena" episode. Last year, it won its first World Gold medal in the New York Festivals for “Sugat ng Pangungulila (Wounds of Woes)."
An anchor for GMA Integrated News' flagship newscast "24 Oras Weekend," Arcangel is an award-winning journalist who has been in the industry for more than 20 years.
She was hailed among the best news anchors by Gandingan: The 14th UPLB Isko’t Iska’s Multi-media Awards in 2020, and won the Best TV Female Anchor in the 16th Gawad Tanglaw. She also appears in the late-night newscast "Saksi."
The winners of the AIBs will be announced on November 22, 2024 in London.
