Atom Araullo book launch: Zen Hernandez expresses support for Kapuso journalist

Zen Hernandez graced the book launch of Atom Araullo's first book, "A View From The Ground," on the last day of the Manila International Book Fair on Sunday.

During the launch, Zen expressed her support for Atom and talked about his love of storytelling.

"Atom is aware naman that I've always been supportive of his every endeavor in life, as he has been with me. So I am very, very happy that he was given this opportunity to actually, you know, put together some of his best stories," Zen said.

"It's been awhile since I've read a good book. So binasa ko 'yung umpisa, may potential siya ha! Mukhang maganda siya ha. So I know na parang talagang binuhos niya 'yung oras niya dito dahil may times talagang 'di mo siya makikita eh," she quipped.

In response, Atom expressed his gratitude to Zen.

"Thank you for being here," he said.

Zen was also mentioned in the acknowledgements part of the book.

"And finally, thank you to Zen, who puts up with all moods and inanities every single day. I honestly don't know how you manage it," Atom wrote.

"A View from the Ground" is the award-winning journalist's first collection of narrative journalism and contains photos taken by Atom himself. According to UP Press, it is "focused on people living in the margins of society."

Apart from being an award-winning journalist, Atom is also a Palanca award-winning writer, having won the first prize in the Essay Category in 2022 for his essay "Letter from Tawi-Tawi," which was first published on GMA News Online.
