Precious Paula Nicole wins Best Lead Performance at CinePride Film Festival in LA
Precious Paula Nicole won the Best Lead Performance award at the CinePride Film Festival in Los Angeles, California, for her role as Sampaguita in “Lip Sync Assassin," while the short film's director Jon Galvez won Best Director.
In a message sent to GMA News Online, Precious said that winning the award “felt so magical” for her.
“I’ve always dreamed to be an actor but I did not think I’ll be one. After winning ‘Drag Race Philippines’ I thought ayun na 'yun. I did not expect this wonderful blessing. It felt so magical kasi di ko talaga inakala na I will be nominated, at nanalo pa nga,” she said.
According to Precious, she is dedicating the award to young members of the LGBTQ+ community.
“It really pays to be inspired and to inspire. Para ito sa mga batang bakla lalo na sa mga nasa probinsya. Wag kayo magsawa mangarap dahil balang araw, sa tulong ng sipag at tiyaga, makakamit niyo ito,” she added.
Precious also thanked the production team behind “Lip Sync Assassin,” as well as director Jon.
“I can’t wait na mapanuod niyo ang pelikulang ito. Maraming salamat.”
Precious previously graced the premiere night of her movie, which took place at the Landmark Theatres Sunset in West Hollywood on September 13
“Lip Sync Assassin,” stars Precious in the lead role of Sampaguita, a drag queen who turns to a life of crime as a means of survival.
Precious is the Philippines’ first-ever Drag Race Superstar. She won the pilot season of “Drag Race Philippines” in 2022.
