September 21 rallies: David Licauco's Katipunan food shop announces early closure in time for anti-corruption protests
David Licauco's Sobra To-Go food shop in White Plains, Katipunan, announced early closure on September 21.
On Facebook, Sobra released a statement, saying that the early closure on Sunday is "in solidarity with and support of our staff's right to exercise their freedom of association and peaceful assembly."
"The sovereignty and spirit of the Philippines lie, first and foremost, with the Filipino people," they wrote. "The power of government is borrowed from the people. They are accountable to us, not the other way around."
Following congressional hearings on alleged corruption on flood control projects, many Filipinos have banded together to call for accountability for those responsible.
Two main protests are happening in Metro Manila on Sunday: One in Luneta at 9 a.m. and another in EDSA People Power Monument at 2 p.m.
