Residents in Gonzaga, Cagayan affected by Nando receive aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation

Residents in Gonzaga, Cagayan, who were affected by Super Typhoon Nando received aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to "24 Oras" Wednesday, Nando disrupted the livelihood of farmers in Gonzaga, with agricultural damage estimated at P5 million based on initial data by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

Elenita Medrano, a resident of Barangay Santa Cruz, was expecting to harvest her rice crops in the first week of October, but almost half of the portion of her crops was damaged by floodwaters.

“Luging-lugi na talaga, konti lang 'yung maani namin dahil nahulog 'yung mga butil ng palay namin. Bagsak presyo talaga ang palay. Noong unang anihan, P11 pero ngayon nasa P7 pesos na,” she said.

On Wednesday, the GMA Kapuso Foundation brought aid to affected residents by distributing relief goods in Gonzaga under its Operation Bayanihan project.

The relief operations started in Barangay Santa Cruz and will continue in other areas of Gonzaga on Thursday.

GMA Kapuso Foundation has also started repacking goods in Benguet province, which will also be distributed to residents affected by the typhoon on Thursday.

For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, and Shopee. Visit the GMA Kapuso Foundation website for more information.
