65-year-old delivery rider goes viral after completing delivery on foot, receives help from netizens
A 65-year-old delivery rider captured the attention of netizens after his dedication to his job led him to walk the rest of his delivery route because of his broken bike.
According to Bea Pinlac's report on "24 Oras Weekend," Saturday, the incident occurred when Roberto Subito received an order from customer Jean Pellegas, who had waited nearly two hours for her food.
"Paglabas ko, ano siya, pawis na pawis tapos 'yung kamay niya sobrang dumi. Tapos hinihingal. Sabi niya, 'Pasensya na ha. Nasira 'yung bike ko, nilakad ko na lang.' Sobrang nakakadurog," Jean said.
Despite the delay, Roberto said delivering the order was still his priority.
"Trabaho namin [ay] delivery eh. So kahit late man, gusto ko ma-deliver talaga," he said.
Jean was deeply moved by the elderly rider's commitment and decided to share his story online.
The post quickly went viral, drawing thousands of reactions and comments from netizens who admired Roberto's dedication.
"Ang dami talagang tumulong. Kahit tig-sisingkwenta, 100, naipon siya nang naipon kasi ang dami talagang tumulong. Sobra," Jean said.
"Laking bagay talaga. May pangkain ka na sa mga araw-araw na darating eh. Makapagpahinga na ako. 'Di na gaanong naghahabol ng quota," Roberto said about the help he received.
He is planning to buy a new bicycle.
"Hindi na ako mahihirapan sa araw-araw. Nabago ang buhay ko talaga. Oo, nabago," he said. —Carby Rose Basina/MGP, GMA Integrated News
